Cover Letter Writing Tips and My Actual Template

👋Hi! I’ve received a few messages pleading for help regarding job hunting. Covid-19 has really wrecked our economy.

So here’s another gift.

It’s my way way of paying forward blessings. All I ask is you also pay it forward when others need help. ❤️

In this article, I’m sharing my actual cover letter. It’s what gets me great clients and, if I were to apply again, this is the method I would still use.

Don’t worry about everyone sounding the same because this isn’t meant to be copied verbatim. We all have different experiences and skills.

Also, the effort a person puts in their skills and job hunting will vary. The person who puts in the most work improving and hunting will get the best clients.

So, without further delay, here’s my tried and tested cover letter. I broke down why it’s been working and how I designed it.

💜💜💜

Hello,

I’m interested in working for you as a (insert position). I can begin immediately.

What makes me the ideal candidate for this position?

(✅TIP: I use numbered points so my cover letter is easy on the eyes.

If you don’t want to do this, write short paragraphs. Refer to my article containing tips for effective online writing.

1) I’ve done B2B sales and account management for American, Canadian, and Australian clients. My high energy and optimistic personality make me a wonderful salesperson.

(✅TIP: Go right into the specific experiences you’ve had that would grab their attention. If you don’t have work experience, look at my content about making a portfolio without waiting for a paying client. It’s on YouTube or my IG.

You can mention unpaid projects that showcase skills needed for the particular job you’re after.

✅Notice, too, how I mention the traits that make me ideal for the job. I don’t just mouth off the experience, I say WHY my past experience makes me capable to do the job at hand.)

2) I’m a native speaker of English, and I’ve lived and worked in both California and Nevada.

(⛔NOTE: Obviously you don’t say this if it doesn’t apply, but the point here is you include your BEST assets that MATCH the job you’re after. You want to grab their attention ASAP. Don’t leave your best skills at the bottom of the list.)

3) Aside from B2B sales, my work experience includes online marketing, computer programming, writing technical manuals, and ghostwriting books. The skills I learned from these work experiences will allow me to perform well for you because sales work involves plenty of communication and a decent amount of technical knowledge.

(✅TIP: The higher you go up on the list, the more you can include impressive skills but those that aren’t necessarily the most impressive.

Notice how I tie up these experiences to the skills/attitude related to the job–which is sales in this example.

✅Write down your best skills that match the job you’re applying for in numbers #1 to #2 or #3.

Be creative. Dig into your past and find out what you’ve done that makes you ideal for this position. SELL YOURSELF! Now isn’t the time to be shy.)

4) I can conduct myself professionally while maintaining my energetic personality. Building rapport with other people in a business setting comes naturally to me.

(✅TIP: Change this to match the job you’re after. What personality traits will the job require?

In this case, this is a cover letter for a sales job so high energy is required.

If it were, for example, a VA or bookkeeping position, perhaps you can mention personality traits that involve your love for paying attention to details. You can even mention a hobby that showcases the personality trait that’s ideal for the job position.)

Thank you for your time. Is there anything else you’d like to know?

(✅End with a question)

Sincerely,
(YOU!)

✅Include an audio or video clip selling yourself unless the job ad was very specific about how candidates must apply.
